These pants are amazingly warm! The insulated front and vented fleece rear do a great job of keeping you warm, while also being breathable enough. I wear them for fat biking in Alaska; and thus far down to 10°F they have been amazing. When it’s colder, I pair them with thermal padded tights; and when it’s a little warmer, I just wear a normal bike chamois underneath. The vents are a little small, but serviceable. For wearing over heavy boots the leg cuff zipper barely makes the end big enough, but would be fine for normal cycling shoes.I’m not a typical sized cyclist, think linebacker. I have large legs and upper body. So I hate the current trend of slim fitting clothes. Because of this the fit on these is interesting, I sized up from their size chart and found them to be appropriate. My cycling partner was a medium on the size chart and the large fit better. Just keep that in mind.
